Hi Dave
I was the senior marshal at the woolton park, I did'nt think anyone remembered it as everyone I mentioned it to was rather surprised when I told them there used to be a park there, I have no pictures of the park or anyone who skated there, no doubt like yourself we were too busy skating to think about taking pictures.

I remember the death trap that was the half pipe in edge lane, Jeezus I wiped out on that thing a few times, fancy making it out of steel, I used to ride with lime green kryps and they did'nt offer the best grip on the steel ramps.

Do you still skate?

I remember Dave the Rave and Fath, Jeez seems like yesterday, I used to ride a John Sablosky with Lime Green Kryps, I used to drop in to the bowl/pool off the concrete blocks, Do you remember the 'comp' that was the L/pool skate championships?.

I still try and keep my balance everynow and then, I've been to Rampworx a couple of times, I loved the Halfpipe in the corner till they made it lower and got rid of the little vert, and apparantley its gone all together now.

I have watched wakeboarding on the TV looks fun, I'd prefer to blast around the IOM TT course for fun nowadays, thats what stopped me skating in the first place, I discovered motorbikes, they went faster and were easier to stop!!.

I used to skate at Southport. Went to Edge Lane a few times. Had a few frontside airs out the top of the big quarter pipe. Last time I went past it (on the bus, on my way down to Cornwall for last summers skate trip) it just looked like a bombsite. How we ever skated it I dunno.

Never got to Woolton park, but I recognize some of the names, Dave the Rave etc.

Skated again in the 80's at Warrington/ Preston/Ardwick etc. Started again in 2004. Don't think I'll ever stop now. Got to Rampworx semi-regularly. Get in touch if you feel like coming for a session sometime.

Hi Chris , Hi Dave, I'm actually stuck on the little rock in the middle of the Irish Sea now, skating picks up then dies as the kids have no indoor park to use during the winter and now we live in a "sue them" society its difficult to get insurance to bring the kids over as a group to visit Rampworx, this is a pain in the ar$e cos it was my only excuse to get across for a decent session with my son, and now the bike racing season is heading our way it does'nt look like I'll get the chance to do any skating at all, Bikes win hands down I'm afraid. Toys are defo getting bigger and more expensive as you get older.
if I can get across I'll post a message and let you know
thanks
Lee

I've got pics of Edge Lane 77 - 81 plus a much cherished cine film now on video of those times with a clip of Dave the Rave on it.

I skated there plus Southport , Woolton , Llandudno and Rhyl and had the time of life. Boards over those years I had were ..Sims superlight, Mark Sinclair, Z-Pig, Powell Peralta Ray Rodriguez. Wheels white yoyo's, red kryps, powerflex 5's, Kanoa roll outs. Laser then Tracker trucks.

Tricks.. tail blocks, cess slides, lip slides, power slides, rock n rolls, rock n roll slides, g-turns, roll outs , roll ins, foot plants, lay backs, axel drops , drop ins were called elevator drops then and ollies just started when woman and drinking took over from my skating .

There was a bloke called Marcus Blaza who was one of our crew from the Wirral and I would love to contact him.

did mess about on a long board, but only for a bit. it was a nice way to gun down the long run towards that far too wide bowl at the end.
