SKATE SPOT NEWS FLASH>>>>> May 31.05
VOTE FOR THE FUTURE OF CHINA CREEK ON JUNE 11/11AM!!!
As you may have already heard, China Creek skatepark, at Clark and Broadway, could be up for destruction. To recap, the City has been reconsidering the placement/existence of China Creek for the last year, but not much of this news has reached the skateboarding community. There have been a series of public meeting over the past few months, which we at Skate Spot just recently heard about, where 3 schemes were proposed to 'upgrade' the park, 2 of which included the complete removal of the bowls. The meetings were open to the public, with Parks Board members. There will be a VOTE, and if you would like to have your opinion counted, you should come out to to meeting, and BRING FRIENDS to support skateboarding.
The VOTE for China Creek is to be held Saturday, June 11th, 2005 at the Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House.
WHEN: Saturday, June 11th, 2005
TIME: 11 am to 4pm
WHERE: Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House
800 East Broadway (corner of Prince Albert St)

If you would like to see the email sent from us to Michel DesRocher regarding sound proofing options, to lessen complaints against the skatepark, go to:
http://downspace.com/chinacreek/soundproofingemail.htmlwe also put all of this info on our website:
http://downspace.com/chinacreek/http://downspace.com/chinacreek/technical.htmlALSO - The Park Planner said we could more effectively make our case to the Parks Board Commissioners by giving them information they can use to solve the 'noise issues' like the sound barrier email we sent to them, or to give them info or even web links to sites that say great things about China Creek....so any of you who have links about China Creek as a 'heritage skatepark', or 'Canada's oldest skatepark', etc, send them to him and/or us, 'cause we're trying to make a good case for keeping the park, if that's what the skateboarcing community wants (as pretty much seems to be the case).
Either way, come out and vote at the June 11 meeting, to have your say - and don't forget, it's an early meeting!
Thanks for reading...and circulate this email, if you can.
