How about Knebworth and stevenage? Two good parks within spitting distance made the road trip worthwhile. Anyone ever visit the skatepark at Thruxton race track? It was the 1st park i skated (on my california sun). Went with my brother whilst my parents watched the racing. Sadly got buried under a moto-x track.

I used to skate Arrow back then too. Definitely the best - couldn't believe it when they closed it. Skateopia didn't do it for me, and they soon closed that too!!
the drain was my favourite so would be good to check that out. still have me old set up from back then and with a bit of luck might be ridin again soon.
Cheers
Rich

Newbury indoor Skatepark (the first in the UK) Stacy Peralta ripped it apart one visit as did the Hobie team (Anyone remember them) it had huge sweeping banks made strangely of Hard board which kept on breaking, its a housing estate now. Windosr indoor skate park, yes the Whiplash was awesome I briefly held the British Long jump record there 16' board to board the half pipes went to Wokingham i believe Skateworld Wokingham awesome pool Thruxton near andover crazy transistions in the bowl Swindon Huge halfpipe into a bowl (Copy of an american park at the time I think Utopia) vert was all blockwork about 10' high backing onto peoples gardens. The Newbury Team went there on opening day and tore it apart Basingstoke indoor well odd transition to vert people would always fall there and injure themselves but otherwsie good when it rained But for me the best of all was Londons SKATECITY enough isnt said about it

Thruxton is now under 50 foot of soil. RIP! Andover was in my mind the best skating venue because the Skaters themselves built it! Great company and music and some excellent competitions. See my other post about Andover2.

The new One Minet Park at Saffron Walden must be the best thing ever built in Britain to date. Haven't been there myself. Wrong part of blighty!

Re Saffron Walden. I have to say, I was a little dissapointed with the pool. The deep end is up hill, the shallow end is too mellow and one side of the shallow end is off set. The other two bows are perfect, but I didn't ride them too much. Lets face it, I'd be bloody stoked to have any one of the three bowls near to me. Deffinatly woth the trip !

Mark, Carl here good to hear from you. I have hours and hours of Gillingham park footage from the 80s, I need to find some time to convert them to dvd drop me a PM and I when I get a chance I will copy some for you. I have the full 6 hour tape of the Gillingham Day Smell of Death session as well. Probably the only copy now in existance.

Rodga, The last Gillingham day was the one that TLB photo'd and appeared in RAD at the time. Shane O'Brien and Worzel were there and I'm trying to remember back if you were there as well. Anyway I have it all on video in the loft and need to convert it to dvd. Give me a week or so and I will get it down and converted and drop you a copy if you pm me with your address. Do you have any footage of the Crouch End sessions?
