old skool v new skool attitudes?
« on: September 13, 2006, 01:36:35 AM »

ive been sk8in since 86,seen alot of changes good n bad. biggest 1 ive seen that really freaked me out & pissed me off n made me feel completely aleinated-something ive never felt b4 in my life-was this....
ive been to lots of sk8 film premiers, had some memorable mental times, public domain-late 80's electric theatre portabello rd,me curtis mc cann, tony luckhurst etc-pissed going ape -awsome time of change 4 skateboarding.
last film prem i went too  was a few yrs ago at the royal festival (south bank ) to see" the storm"-osiris team vid-securtiy toss pots  as usual -no beer blah blah blah!-killa film every 1 screaming ,then rampage after.
-throwing cans ,sk8ing,chasing security twats etc.....great as it should be!!!!!.....
went to the "prince charles thearter" last year i think in the winter some time, to see -"blue print" prem-big crowds-good atmosphere but not hyper....even saw joe burlo n he was in a good mood-amazing!!!!
anyway as we watched- me n a couple o friends, and we screamed n banged our boards-when ever somebody landed something rad-the rest of the hole f*+king place sat in silence!!
-oh well ,we drank -got drunker screamed more-got tutted at!!!-but at the end of each riders section, slowly people begun to clap.......we looked at each other- like what the f*&k is going on here?
-f*&king clapping-bravo???....we left-pissed n feeling like shit .......what the f*&k was that all about?
-are we really that outside what modern skateboarding has become?
-well bullshit. i know its not like that at the park when we rip the f*&k out the place at 100 mph doing f/s travelling mayday's on vert n staying on every trick or slamming.-while the same plale skinned ,under nurished, long haired dicks-who snarred at us at the prem-bail every meek attempt at a "switch-flip-plip-plop-lazer-tazer-flip"   on 1 one of the many wheel chair access ramps ,that seem to be appearing more n more at our parks now
.......please tell me that skateboarding is'nt loosing is spirit....like my teenage nephew and his limp wristed joint smoking computer bullshit-playing friends are?Huh........christ.
.......tell you what though......its not like that up north ....maybe its just london that sucks?

These new skool atitudes are shit they all look so miserable when they skate even when there landing trick bullshit skating is about having fun and not giving a fuck about what other people think. When i was young it was all about dropping in on a ramp or olling up a curb and progression some of these kids if they cant do a kickflip they give a what a load of bollocks

felt terrible the other day though - theres a young dude-key chain sk8 fashion accessories all that crap-but sitting  on his ass-smoking away,-and im all  "oi -you gona fuking sk8 or what?" and hes  all -" i cant do this i cant do that"
so after a bit of kickinn in the ass,ive managed to teach him how too pump on a minii ramp and do  back 2 back axle stalls-he's stoked and so am i.
and im all "come on do the same shit on the big ramp"-hes a bit scared but pysced
just lean in -do it.
-bang -he does'nt lean in, and hooks his back truck up-OOF!
-breaks his fuggin wrist!!
-doh.
-oh well at least you went for it,got around the mental block shit!
hes plasterd up but still stoked and sk8in,and everytime ii see him he's telling me bout the new shit he's learning!
- i told him to get himself a leading elbow pad-to stop him ending up with a mutant leading elbow-like the rest of us old b-stads!
