it's amazing that some of the best days of my life were spent in a dusty old wearhouse with a bunch of sweaty f@#kers.  Rocker used to do some of the sickest sh@t in that place.  Like airs to noseblunt over the volcano and other crazy crap.  Ian Millard, "Milly" was the guy to watch in that place though,....faster than anyone I've ever seen.  He would do mayday grinds up the escalator and then pull them in on the 7ft extension then air from the 7ft to the back of the 8ft short vert extension and nose blunt it in.

crazy days.

my fav was feeble grinds for days in that place.

Dusty isn't the word, that place was mingin' but fabulous at the same time! Barrow bogies, dark nuggets from the nose!  Grin Tongue

yeah, and I remember eating a bunch of sandwiches and sh!t from the garage that would get covered in dust but you would be too tired and hungry to care.

Or how dusty all your clothes got and your pads...ha!  We used to sleep that place like mad too and it made no difference.  Those buildings were probably a 100 years old...I don't think anything would've helped...but it added to the charm I guess!

It was called "shack" after all.

I miss skating masonite, all I get out here is concrete! Concrete everywhere,...I hate concrete!

Oh, I dunno, I like my concrete!

But like you say, masonite is the daddy! unless it was the masonite on the hipped mini at the back of the room at Barrow, which was burried beneath a running surface of nail heads!

I never had a problem with that there.  But I pretty much only used the hip for airing in and out of.  I know it started to get wore out when the owner started having bikes come in to try and make up money.  Unfortunately bikes seem to have a tendency of just tearing shit up.  I love watching BMX, but they aren't kind to wood parks.

The worst for me there was the patchy concrete on the street course where you'd die if you weren't watching what you were riding over.

This is my local now...scroll down for pics on the page

Ha!

Man you're spoilt there! A polar opposite from the Shack!

I know what you mean about the floor, it got even worse as small wheels became the fashion, hang ups galore!  Cry

yeah I'm spoiled with sunnyvale...but there's no community or vibe about the place like shack had.  I think that's why most of us skated back then because it was great to be a part of such a unified group of people.  Nowadays I go sk8 and every kid has an iPod, the trendy shoes and clothes and wants to show me there biggest trick while cutting off someone else in the process...it's kinda lame.

Skateshack was the bomb! Had some of my best times in that gaff, especially the all nighters. Egg, Proccy, Milly, Artsy, the whole shebang, all the teams that toured there. What's it being used as now then, anyone know? Man, if that place could get rockin' again it'd be sick as.

Sound. What are the opening hours?

By the way Smiler, do I know you - read earlier that you're from Preston (or at least nearby)?

hey guys. i found this out of boredom trying to find old shack stuff so i thought i'd best reply.

im 19 (almost 20) been skating for oooo just over 4 years, in that time the shack has opened and closed about 3-4 times. however it has reopened again. the ramps are a little sketchy but it gives us somewhere to go. most of the old grafitti and broke decks are still there fromway back when.

if you need any pics or infor feel free to email me.

and yeh i know phil procter, whata  nugget he is haha

I lost my virginity under some bushes outside when there was a big comp going on one weekend. She was hangin' but it was better than nothing.
Hopefully I don't have a kid roaming around Barrow right now!
